Satan's Favorite Heaven Myths
Satan hates you. He has made it his eternal purpose to keep you from the inheritance that God has prepared for you. Part of that inheritance is your home in Heaven. And, I have no doubt about this, he is very good at what he does. You see, Satan does not attack directly. He's already lost every battle that he's fought against God. So he takes a more guerrilla approach. He cannot deny the existence of Heaven, after all, he lived there for untold time. So he minimizes it's importance. He reduces it's wonder and transforms it into something it's not. In a word he tries to make Heaven BORING. And, in the minds of most, he has succeeded. How often do Christians and those drawn to Christ talk and long for Heaven? Isn't it unspiritual to look forward to Heaven, someone would ask. Shouldn't we be focusing on Jesus and our walk with God? Funny how Satan has separated God himself from the place where he resides. To long for Heaven is to long for God himself. There is no Heaven without God, the two are eternally inseparable. I have wasted too much time not allowing the wonder and beauty of a Heaven that God created motivate my life here on earth. What about you? Are you prepared to let Satan know that this lie, this deception about Heaven, won't work on you?

I would agree with you concerning Satan's attitude towards us and how he doesn't want us to long for heaven and the presence of God. One question though, how does having a longing for heaven help us live more for Him here and now? I would love to hear your thoughts in this regard.
ReplyDeleteHey Jason, great to find you guys here. I like the thought path you put forward here. Life is is a journey (we as christians are just passing thru). As a chld and as an adult the thrill of getting to where you are going, the planning the ANTICIPATION for a vacation is more than half of the of the fun. Heaven is that spot. The anticipation while we are here is a thrill that should awe inspire every Christian to live life more fully every day.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to hear from an old traveler and friend. Larry, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to Heaven. For the first time in my life I'm really having a tangible sense of anticipation. Don't you find that most of our lives are spent in the academic persuit of understanding God and Heaven instead of just delighting in the fact that we're going there? Hope to hear from you again.
